Development of an enhanced sensor approach towards measuring age related motor symptoms
We will investigate an approach of synchronized sensors to develop a continuously worn ambulatory system that measures and analyzes patient’s motor parameters. Data collection will be performed in elderly patients with motor symptoms (e.g. suffering from Parkinson’s disease (PD)) and controls by use of synchronized acceleration sensors e.g. at the hip, wrist and the lower spine, with optional additional inertial sensors (gyroscopes). PD scores (e.g. the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS), Timed-Up-and-Go test), will be used for adaptation and cross-validation purposes. Signal analysis and processing, and algorithms development will be performed with highly competitive in-house tools.
